Forest Sailing Club
Forest Sailing Club (FSC) is the sailing club at Da Gama Dam, on the White River in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa. The club was (presumably) named for the forestry plantations surrounding Da Gama Dam, which lies between the towns of White River and Hazyveiw.
Forest Sailing Club was founded in 1974. It is home to a fleet of sailing dinghies and catamarans, as well as a few keelboats.
Forest Sailing Club offers a clubhouse with bar and galley facilities for regattas, roofed boat storage, a grassed foreshore with shady trees (ideal for picnicks), braai (BBQ) facilities and a shaded camping area. The Forest Sailing Club ablution facilities can accommodate around 80 boats.
To get there, drive about 20 km from White River along the Hazyview road (NOT the Numbi Gate Road!). Turn left at the sign for "e;Da Gama Dam"e; and follow the gravel road downhill. About 1500 m later you will arrive at Forest Sailing Club.
The sailing season runs from August to May. During this time, racing takes place on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month. Forest Sailing Club uses a handicapping system for racing, which affords all competitors an equal chance of winning.
Junior sail training takes place on a regular basis.
The Forest Sailing Club website proclaims that "visitors are welcome".
Forest Sailing Club snail mail goes to P.O. Box 1594, White river, 1240, Mpumalanga, South Africa.

He has no beard, or is that because he is a girl?
He laughs in the face of fear, or is it just a nervous giggle?
He's a man with a plan, or is he hopelessly adrift at sea?
He knows absolutely nothing about sailing, or does he know absolutely nothing about web sites?
You'll surely be able to stand him, because he'll let you cruise along for free!
