The modern False Bay Yacht Club building is almost in the centre of Simon's Town, with telephone, fax and internet facilities. The Clubhouse offers full ablution facilities, a braai (BBQ) area on the lawn, as well as clean, safe swimming, right in front of the FBYC clubhouse. "The Crow's Nest" is the club bar and lounge, and "King Neptune's" is an exceptional, good value restaurant.

The village of Simon's Town has facilities for changing currency, banking, shopping, dining, laundry, car hire, a post office and tourist information centre. Simon's Town is of historical importance to South Africa, with some interesting places within walking distance of the Yacht Club.

The headline annual event at False Bay Yacht Club is the Spring Regatta. There are more than 180 privately owned floating marina berths, serviced with electricity and water. The yacht club also maintains a number of swing and trot moorings, which may also be bought or rented.

False Bay Yacht Club offers a slip way for ski-boat launching, available to members only. Safety certificates and skippers qualifications will be inspected before use of the slip way facility.

There is a boat yard and trailers available for repairs and maintenance to most yachts and other boats. For longer stays, arrangements can be made to crane the boat out of the water and onto a cradle.

The whole of the marina, slipway and hard-standings are managed and administered by the Simon's Town Marina Company, which can be contacted at Telephone +27 21 786 1703 or email: marina@fbyc.co.za

Diesel is available from the Town Jetty and there is a full service chandler's shop in the boat yard. They can undertake repairs and maintenance, includung quick, professional sail repairs. The shop carries a full range of equipment for yachts and motor boats.

The False Bay Yacht Club burgee was registered on 31 January 1961 and described as a "white triangular pennant with a royal blue border on the upper and lower sides and a black, fouled anchor on the white ground next to the staff."

The False Bay Yacht Club uniform consists of a navy blue blazer with the False Bay Yacht Club burgee and the letters FBYC in gold on the left breast pocket, along with a royal blue tie with the False Bay Yacht Club burgee outlined in gold, with the letters FBYC in gold.

False Bay Yacht Club snail mail goes to P.O. Box 45, Simon's Town, 7995, Western Cape, South Africa.

Captain_No_Beard

He has no beard, or is that because he is a girl?

He laughs in the face of fear, or is it just a nervous giggle?

He's a man with a plan, or is he hopelessly adrift at sea?

He knows absolutely nothing about sailing, or does he know absolutely nothing about web sites?

You'll surely be able to stand him, because he'll let you cruise along for free!

Sailing like crazy
