cam cleat
'Camcleats' or 'cam cleats' are used to fix sheets and other lines in the desired position. A cam cleat allows the lines on a sailboat to be quickly set and released.
Cam cleats are also handy for precise adjustment of rope or line in other situations.
A cam cleat consists of two wedge shaped cams, which tightens on either side of a line under force. Applying a force in the opposite direction will rotate the cams in the opposite direction and release the line.
"cam cleat" is a noun.
